Stewardship “Month?”
For the last three weeks of this past August, my sermons have continued to follow the Revised Common Lectionary of the Christian church, but have progressed to a devotional message about Stewardship. Yet, we ought to be mindful of our role as stewards of God’s blessings much more than just one month out of the year. Indeed, we ought to be so mindful of our vocations as caretakers, that in all that we do and say, we act as stewards of God’s grace. May we give great and endless thanks that our Lord does not care for our needs on month out of the year, or during a series of three designated Sundays. We all know of the financial weight that our parish is currently wrestling with, however, we need to all remember first and foremost that stewardship is about relationship. It is a means in which we can be gracious and free in our relation with a loving God who first blessed us, and called us to His side for our benefit.
